We had a wonderful busy week of learning. We began our math unit on subtraction. Check out some of the fun things we did this week. Who says math has to be a work sheet?
We started off our unit with singing the song Five Green and Speckled Frogs and acting out the story with subtraction mats and paper frogs.
We made up silly subtraction problems using pretend french fries.
We had a blast playing Bowling Subtraction. This was good practice for our bowling trip coming up next week.
We created flower picture word problems. I love how different they all turned out.
We finished up our globes.
Working in teams is one of our favorite things to do. The students learn so much from each other.
We reviewed our popcorn words with a game of swat the sight word.
Look at how cute these bunnies turned out.
For food Friday we baked bread just like the Little Red Hen. The recipe is below.
Yeast Bread
2 cups of warm water
2/3 cups of sugar
1 1/2 TBSP of yeast
1 1/2 tsp of salt
1/4 cup of vegetable oil
5 1/2 cups of flour
Mix the warm water, yeast and sugar together until it bubbles. Add the remaining ingredients and knead together. Let it rise in the bowl until it doubles in size. Bake in loaf pans or form into rolls. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Enjoy!
Have a wonderful weekend!
