Our Week of Learning

We had a great full week of school! We packed our week full of math, writing, reading and Earth Day fun.

We had a blast doing a little addition fishing. No worms needed!

We used our building blocks as counters and did some addition "building".

I saw this idea on Pinterest and knew this would be a hit.

The "Big Chicken" books made us giggle with joy.  The next time you visit a library...be sure to check them out.

We wrote about what we were "chicken' of.

"I'm a "Big Chicken" when I see mosquitoes."

"I'm a Big Chicken" when I see ghost."

Wednesday was Earth Day and we learned lots of ways to help care for our Earth.

We wrote about things we had learned.

"I can turn off the TV."
"I can save water."

We enjoyed our "Earth" cupcakes.

We had book buddy time with Mrs. Morley's fifth graders.

We did a little "subtraction" bowling to practice for our big bowling field trip on Friday.

We celebrated all the minutes we read in March by going bowling! All our  bowling practice payed off.  Everyone did a great job.

Don't forget to send in your empty two liter soda bottles.

Have a wonderful week!

Our Week Of Learning!

It was a rainy week...but we had lots of fun learning going on indoors. We are still all about  chicks and chickens in our classroom. We created our own chicks and labeled them.  I loved how they turned out. So unique and different...just like us!

We read The Little Red Hen and had a great time conducting an experiment. We placed yeast, sugar and warm water in a water bottle.  We took turns shaking the bottle and then we placed a balloon on top.  The yeast mixture made the balloon inflate. We discussed how this process also makes bread rise.

We acted out the story of The Little Red Hen.
Watch out Broadway!

I had no trouble getting volunteers to help with our bread!  We mixed up our recipe and let the bread machine do the rest.

The bread was a huge hit!

We did a little writing after we ate our bread.  We described how it tasted.

"Bread tastes yummy in my tummy."         "Bread tastes yum."

We used playing cards to brush up on our addition.

We are counting down daily.  Lots of excitement happening in our classroom!
Have a wonderful week.
