Thankful

I am thankful for such a great group of students!  I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving.

Hard at work during math centers.

We earned all of the pieces to our scarecrow for good behavior.  We celebrated with brownies.
(Idea from The Kindergals TPT unit.)

We read Stone Soup by Marcia Brown and made some soup ourselves. Thank you for sending in the supplies.

We learned about now and then.

Drew and Heath built the "Mayflower" during indoor recess.

What a cute bunch of Indians and Pilgrims.

Heath was the lucky one who found the stone in his bowl of soup.

Our Feast.

Don't you all just love my new blog design?  I would like to thank Bridget Lucas for her hard work and creativity. Please check out her business. Signature Designs.

A "Short" Snapshot of our Week

This will be a short post for two reasons. First of all my computer crashed this week and I lost most of the pictures I had taken. (insert sad face)  My new goal is to back-up my computer OFTEN! The second reason this is a short post can be summed up in two words. SNOW DAY!

We are learning all about the meaning of Thanksgiving.  We discussed how it would have felt to be on the Mayflower. We all agreed that we would not want to be on that crowded ship.
We all discussed the one item we would take with us on the Mayflower if we were on that voyage.

Hannah wanted to take  her bed.

Landon wanted to take a penny.
We worked hard on making tally marks this week.

I have been reading this book out loud to the children.  They love Junie B.  We will be starting the second book this coming week.

Don't forget about our school food drive.  Kindergarten is collecting health and beauty items. We are keeping track of our donations with tally marks.

We will be making our Stone Soup on Friday.  All soup items are due by Wednesday.  Thanks for your help!

Our Week Of Learning!

It was a busy week of learning.  We are working hard on learning our numbers in math.  We are also beginning to tally numbers 1 to 20.

We loved finding numbers on our "number" pumpkin.

In Social Sciences we learned about force and motion.  We had fun exploring with magnets.

We discovered the magnets stuck to our desk chairs.

We practiced our sight words by dotting them with
Q-tips dipped in paint.

We are working on putting our numbers in order from 1 to 20 as quickly as possible.

We are working hard on being GREAT readers!

We made pilgrim boys and girls this week during writing.  We wrote what we were thankful for. (Activity from First Grade blue Skies)

Did you know that writing your sight words with smelly markers helps you learn them???

We did a little turkey feather addition in math.

Mrs. Deremer visited on Friday and read another book to us.  A big thank you to Wells Fargo for the book.

Don't forget to send in items to help out our food drive.  Kindergarten is collecting health and beauty items.
Have a great weekend!

Our Week In Review

Wow what a busy week! We continued to learn about pumpkins and celebrated Halloween kindergarten style!

My students are getting quite the photo taking experts! I love that I am not the only one in charge of capturing  what goes on in our classroom.

We cut open our classroom pumpkin to investigate what was inside. Some of us were a little more willing to dig in than others.

We cleaned out the seeds and placed them in coffee filters by groups of ten.

Mrs. Ingram came to read to us for RIFF.  We enjoyed all of her farm themed books and getting to pick out a new book to take home.

We reviewed our sight words by hunting for them in the newspaper!

Oh..just hanging out in the sunshine!

The weather was beautiful a couple of days this week.  We packed up our snack and headed outdoors.  This will not be happening much longer.

We played sight word memory.

We practiced our numbers by making "ghost" on a ten frame. (lima beans with faces on them)

We made cards for a faculty members daughter who is in serving in the military.

We practiced writing our sight words in a "ghostly" way!

The following pictures were taken at our Fall Harvest party.  A big thanks to all the parents who came and helped out and who sent in items. It was a huge success!
