These activities are from January 13th and this week.
We have been learning about solid, liquids and gases. We were so happy Mother Nature provided us with some snow to help us learn about this unit. We explored snowflakes with magnifying glasses. We were amazed to see the individual snowflakes.
We made a snowman and measured how tall it was with cubes. We predicted how long it would take for him to go from a solid to a liquid. It took six hours.
We played a fun Melt-An-Ice Cube game.
If we rolled a one, we had to hold our ice cube for ten seconds. |
If we rolled a two, we had to drop the ice cube down our shirt! This was the class favorite. |
If we rolled a three, we had to blow on our ice cube for ten seconds. |
If we rolled a four, we had to drop our ice cube. |
If we rolled a five, we had to put ten sprinkles of salt on our ice cube. |
If we rolled a six, we had to place our ice cube in water for ten seconds. |
In math we have been learning about fractions. ( equal, unequal, whole, half, thirds and fourths)
We made a book of fractions and fraction snowmen this week.
We took diet coke (liquid) and mentos (solid) and created a gas. It was a fun experiment.
For food Friday we made fraction pancakes! We turned our liquid pancake mix into a solid pancake.
We cut our pancakes into halves and fourths. They were delicious!
Have a wonderful weekend. Stay dry!
